Unless otherwise noted, two-minute average wind speed refers to the two minutes preceding the time of observation and to the open wind speed rather than mid-flame wind speed. The two-minute average wind speed can be calculated by computing the mean of instantaneous wind speeds or by dividing the total distance of air traveling past the anemometer by the two-minute time period.
