Wildland fire has also been called vegetation fire, land cover fire, and landscape fire by combustion scientists. These terms may be more appropriate than the term wildland fire because they avoid defining wildland. FireWords defines wildland fuel as fuel derived from vegetation, so wildland fire therefore includes vegetation fires burning in areas not classified as wildland, such as agricultural land.
